It seems to be a long-standing tradition (if the dates on a few bricks are to be trusted), and most of them are tolerated and left alone. Of course, I have found a handful of them (really good ones, too), that have ended up going missing. Today, I finally made myself scan and survey as much as I could, and here is the trove of what I cataloged. All of these were photographed Jan. 8, unless noted differently. Sorry in advance for the length, as well as the orientation issues of some pictures.
EDIT: January 10 - I've been hunting down remaining bricks the last few days (their dates will be after Jan 8) with the help of comments. And randomly finding some on my own, too.
These are organized roughly by going from North to South.

there is one in red square near haggard that reads, "It's your lucky day!" with the indian star thing from blow pops. That always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteAlso, by the blue bicycle racks under a tree is a description of a relationship that is very sweet.
And dont forget the Look up! brick that is on the little stairs between bond and miller.
There is one at the VU bus stop that I don't see here in your list!
ReplyDeleteI vividly remember placing my brick on campus in the fall of '97.
ReplyDeleteThese are actually the work of an art class. The sad thing is that many of the best ones are stolen. A couple of my friends' bricks disappeared after only a few months.
